Kaden suggested we have girl and guy time. Kaden and Jason cleaned my car and practiced skateboarding, where Kaden fell and scraped himself up a little. They called it a day and had gelato.

I had wanted to give Kayla a pep talk about doing her best in school, so I thought there was no better setting to do that than at Meredith College, my Alma mater.  I took her to the top of Johnson Hall to see the dolls each class has designed since 1902. This tradition actually started in 1936, but alumnae created dolls all the way back to 1902 to fill in the gaps. Kayla posed in front of my class' doll. We walked all around campus, and I showed her where I lived and some of my classrooms. I quizzed her on the names of buildings and the school flower. Before we got in the car, she wanted to make a wish at the well in front of Johnson Hall - that she gets to be a Meredith girl some day. Nothing would make me prouder.

  1. Way to go, Kayla! I think she'd make an AWESOME Meredith angel!
