Who knew after 29 years of searching for "my" sport, I'd find it. I really suck at all things not related to yoga. And some days, I suck at that, too {not really}. I think yoga prepared me well for trying skiing for the first time. We went with our friends, Aaron and Paige, last weekend {with everyone else and their brother}. Aaron was the most experienced skier and taught us so well. He was really patient, even though I knew he wanted to go on the harder slopes. We stayed on the bunny slope for less than an hour. I was so proud of us less experience skiers.
Skiing came so naturally to me, and I was going really fast--almost too fast. In fact, I really need to invest in some goggles for the next time. I learned to weave back and forth and stop by turning to the side. This helped me maintain control. I really needed that when there were all of these little kids spread out across a really steep hill. There was about four feet of space between a kid and the instructor. I decided to head through them rather than take a really bad spill. I yelled an apology as I went, but I felt really bad after.
Karma caught up with me as I was getting off a different ski lift for the second time. We came right off the lift and landed on a ramp. I overestimated my height and didn't shift to the edge of the seat enough. So I had to sort of hop off the chair and land on the ramp. As I did that, I fell backwards and hit the back of my head. I think my ponytail helped with the fall. The attendant helped me up and asked if I wanted him to call ski patrol. I told him, "I'm not going down like that." I'm not sure where that comment came from. It was pretty funny looking back.
After two days of skiing and only breaking for lunch, we were exhausted. We ate well and slept well. It was such a wonderful weekend. Also, I am officially better than Jason at two things: skiing and air hockey. I'll take it.

We had such a fun weekend with y'all! And I still can't get over how fast you were... every time I saw you it was a blur of blue coat flying past me straight on down the mountain! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Great photos.
